Our story
Safebreaks has been part of the Devon care landscape since 2010. What started as a small local service has grown into a trusted provider of day services, community enabling and supported living for adults with learning disabilities, autism, and associated needs.
In 2025 the service transitioned to new ownership as Safebreaks Devon CIC, a community interest company. That matters. It means every pound we generate is locked in to the service and the people we support, not distributed as private profit. We answer to the community we serve, and our annual CIC report is public.
What we believe
We believe people with learning disabilities deserve more than care. They deserve opportunity. A say. Somewhere to try new things. Permission to make mistakes. The dignity of being trusted to take a safe risk.
That is why we do not measure our work by hours delivered. We measure it by what changes. The meal someone learns to cook. The appointment someone attends alone for the first time. The friendship made at a Saturday Club. The job someone holds down with a bit of support at the edges.
Our mission
Independence
Everyday skills for a more independent life.
Safe risk-taking
New experiences in a supported way.
Confidence and growth
Real-world learning and community.
Meaningful activity
Not just something to fill the day.
Who we work with
We work with adults with learning disabilities, autism and associated needs, across Devon. We work alongside families, social workers, advocates, local authorities and community venues to build support that fits real life.
We are not a CQC-regulated provider, which means we do not deliver personal care (washing, dressing, medication). What we do is focus on skills, confidence and community, often alongside a regulated provider who handles the personal care.
The team
Four people run the services. Photo, name, role, email. We keep it short because they are busy running services, not writing about themselves.
